Team India returned with the shining silverware amidst a plethora of rousing celebrations and thunderous claps.

New Delhi: Team India returned with the shining silverware amidst a plethora of rousing celebrations and thunderous claps. The men in blue finally arrived in Delhi from Barbados on the chartered flight arranged by the BCCI. Team India was scheduled to fly back from the Caribbean on Sunday, however, due to adverse weather situations.

Nevertheless, now the team is back from their exploits in the Caribbean to complete the victory lap in India. A grand parade has been arranged on the marine drive much like what happened last time in the 2011 World Cup win.

Team India landed at the Delhi airport post where they will be joining the PM in his residence in Delhi. The PM has planned to felicitate the entire team for their exceptional journey in the World Cup. Post the felicitation, the Team will head on to the airport and leave for Mumbai where a grand parade is organised by BCCI. The open parade is scheduled to go from Marine Drive to the iconic Wankhede stadium.

Fans go berserk in Delhi!

Braving rain and waterlogging on the streets, Indian fans welcomed the Indian team with open arms. The fans went almost berserk as drums, dhols and bhangra overtook the euphoria in Delhi!

To make the day extra special, tri-colour cakes and welcome drinks were organised for the entire team by ITC Maurya Hotel.

Indian team players like Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav could not contain their joy as they joined the dancing crowds outside their hotel. To commemorate India’s emphatic win, Air India assigned a special call sign- AIC24WC! for the flight returning with our champions.
