In a recent interview with ANI, it was revealed that Vinesh Phogat is determined to return to India from the Paris Olympics only after the CAS verdict comes out in favour of her.

New Delhi: After the cancellation of the final match bout, wrestler Vinesh Phogat has come received ‘scrutiny and support’ at the international level. The athlete is currently in France and is awaiting the final verdict from the Court of Arbitration for Sports. Vinesh is determined to return with the well-deserved silver medal which is due.

According to anonymous sources, in a recent interview with ANI, it was revealed: “Vinesh will not come to India until her verdict is announced.” This grit and determination shown by the Indian grappler has won hearts back home and everyone awaits for that glittering silver medal.

Vinesh’s story

Vinesh Phogat, India’s freestyle wrestler in the 50kg weight category was able to reach the finals of the freestyle wrestling in the 50kg weight category. However, the Indian wrestler was inches close to the gold medal bout. Subsequently, she was disqualified from the gold medal bout when she was found 100g over the permissible limit which is not allowed.

In the aftermath of this mayhem, Phogat lodged a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport for this unfair ruling. The matter is still subjudiced. However, the verdict is expected to come out soon.

When will the final verdict of CAS will come out?

Earlier it was believed that the final verdict on the entire case would come out by tonight (9:30 PM IST). However, now the CAS has decided to delay the proceeding to the 16th of August. Currently, the CAS has appointed an ad hoc division in Paris which is headed by President Michael Lenard from the USA. This arrangement has been done to fast-track the verdict while keeping the quotient of impartiality intact.
