New Delhi: February 13 marks a historic day for the Indian Premiere League (IPL) as more than 400 women players are set to go under the hammer for the inaugural Women’s T20 league on Monday.
The inaugural Women’s IPL auction, taking place at Mumbai’s World Convention Centre will decide the fate of more than 250 domestic players & over 150 foreign players. A total of five IPL franchisees will be vying to buy their favouite players from the pool.
When to watch Women’s IPL auction?
The auction is set to begin at 2.30 PM today. This is the first ever auction of women players for IPL league, excitement is palpable among women cricketers.

The WPL 2023 Auction will be telecasted live on Television on Sports 18, as Viacom 18 had bagged the broadcasting rights.

Number of IPL teams & players at Auction
On lines of the men’s IPL, the WPL will also see five franchisee teams taking shape namely Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Lucknow Warriors and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
A total of 1525 players got themselves registered for WPL Auction 2023. However, about 409 players got selected in the pool, out of which 246 Indian players and 155 foreign players will be under the hammer.
Out of these, a maximum of 90 players will be bought or sold, as every team can gain hold of a maximum of 18 years, with adequate representation of overseas players.
