World Cup 2023: Sara Tendulkar’s reaction is viral as Shubman Gill misses ton by a whisker (VIDEO)

New Delhi: Indian opening batsman Shubman Gill had a troublesome start to his World Cup campaign, suffered poor performance initially but today’s match against Sri Lanka, saw him in sublime form. The young cricketer crossed past 90 runs and was about to hit 1st World Cup hundred but missed it by a whisker.

Gill along with Virat Kohli made a strong 189-run partnership for the second wicket after Rohit Sharma’s early exit in the India’s 7 league match in Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium today.

Gill looked explosive since beginning of the game and went on to score 92 runs in 92 balls. He took Sri Lankan bowlers to the cleaners by hitting 11 fours and 2 big sixes. His fascinating batting knocks also drew loud cheers & praise from the stadium. At a time, when the cricketer looked agonizingly close to hitting first ODI world cup hundred, he got dismissed by Dilshan Madushankam , making him fall short of just 8 runs in the well-deserved hundred.

The crowd which was brimming with joy & cheers fell silent after his dismissal. But, the major highlight turned out to be Sara Tendulkar’s reaction who was in the stadium to watch the India Vs Sri Lanka match.

Sara Tendulkar, daughter of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was left agape at his dismissal and her reaction, captured by the cameras went viral on social media.


Lately, Sara and Gill have become talking point in the media over their alleged relationship. Netizens were quick to point out her utter disappointment over latter’s untimely dismissal.

Shubman’s dismissal

Shubman was on fire and was within striking distance of smashing his 1st World Cup hundred. He apparently got carried away with his big knocks and made a mistake on shorter ball from Dilshan.

Ace Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka, bowling the 30th over threw a short ball at Gill. Latter failed to tackle the ball and ended up giving catch to the skipper Kusal Mendis, who caught a simple catch.

Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to field first.
