New Delhi: Former WWE superstar and Hall of Famer Terry Funk passed away on August 23, he was 79 years old.

Terrence Funk, popularly known by his ring name Terry Funk was announced dead on Wednesday. The news was verified by his manger Timothy Beal and in a statement released by WWE.

Funk was born in June 30 1944 in Hammond, Indiana. Funk took his wresting training at West Texas State University (Now known as West Texas A and M University) where along wrestling he was also part of their football team.

Terry Funk in his 52 year long wrestling career competed in various wresting promotions such as WWF, WCW, ECW, NWA and many more. He even won NWA and ECW world championship. His most famous work came while working for WWF where he feuded with many legends such as Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes.

Funk in 2009 was inducted in WWE Hall of Fame by his long time rival and friend Dusty Rhodes.

Along with his legendry wrestling career, Funk was also an actor. Funk featured in films like Road house, Paradise Alley, The Ringer, and Over the Top. He also tried had a short stint in the music industry. He released his album Great Texan in 1984 which is considered as cult classic by many people.

Soon after news about Funk’s death came out many wrestlers such as Mick Foley, Ric Flair, Sami Zayn, Natalia and William Regal paid their tribute to the WWE Hall of Famer using the social media platform X (Formerly known as twitter).
