Yuvraj questions Rohit’s World Cup squad’s efficiency, Sehwag replies

Yuvraj Singh was himself one of the architects of India’s historic 2011 World Cup run.

New Delhi: Ever since India’s squad for the ICC ODI World Cup has been announced, the fans and experts are split into two sections.

On hand are those who believe that the selected squad is the best fifteen we could have at the moment. On the other hand, there are those who are not very satisfied with some of the choices made by the BCCI selection committee and the skipper Rohit Sharma.

Notably, Yuvraj Singh, who himself was one of the architects behind India’s last two World Cups in 2007 and 2013, seems to be on the side of the latter section.

Yuvraj Singh on Thursday questioned the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma about the efficiency of the squad selected for the World Cup. Through his post on social media platform X (Formerly known as Twitter), he wrote, “We all want a repeat of 2011 in #ICCWorldCup23 BUT In 2011 #TeamIndia shined under pressure. In 2023, Again, the team is under pressure to perform. Do we have enough time to turn this around? Can we use this pressure to become a “Game changer.”

However, before Rohit could give any reaction, Yuvraj’s former teammate and also one of the architects of 2007 and 2011 World Cup victories.

Sehwag replied to Yuvraj Singh’s post on X (Formerly known as Twitter), by saying, “@YUVSTRONG12, ayi baat pressure ki, toh iss bar hum pressure lenge nahi, denge! Like champions! Peechle 12 saal mein, host team world cup jeeti hain!, 2011 – We won at Home, 2015 – Australia won in Australia, 2019 – England won in England, 2023 – Hum Toofan Machayenge!”

Yuvraj and Sehwag might seem to be of different opinions about the squad at the moment, but they will definitely share the same dream that more than 100 billion Indians will be dreaming of, which will be India winning its first ICC trophy in a decade.

Interestingly, this year’s ICC ODI World Cup will be the first time in history that will be played in India only.

India’s provisional squad for ODI World Cup:
