Apps ban

The Indian side made it very clear to the Chinese that the action was taken in view of the security issues and it did not want the data-related to its citizens to be compromised, sources said.

This came days after the Government banned 59 apps, mostly Chinese including TikTok, UC News and CamScanner amid the standoff with China.

According to data from Sensor Twoer, a mobile app analysis company, TikTok was downloaded 112 million times in May, with 20 percent of that total in the Indian market, double that of the US market.

In a big announcement, likely to impact Chinese companies in a big way, Nitin Gadkari today said that Chinese companies will be banned from road projects in the country.
