Prince of Wales - Prince Charles visited India Meteorological Department (IMD) today. He is on a two-day visit to India.

The IMD has also alerted about the Cyclonic Storm 'Maha' and said that places over Lakshadweep and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea and Maldives area will witness it.

The thunderstorm accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Apart from Patna, low-lying areas like Kankarbagh, Rajendra Nagar, Gardani Bagh, Dak Bungalow and SK Puri are also submerged in water due to heavy rainfall and choked sewage.

The weather forecast agency further predicted that Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to witness heavy downpour throughout the day.

The heavy downpour has also disrupted the rail traffic in the region. At least ten trains were cancelled today morning. Delays were reported on several routes.

As per the weather experts, Mumbai is receiving these heavy rains due to a Cyclonic Circulation over Madhya Maharashtra which is 5 km to 9 km above sea level.

Strong winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph, are very likely to prevail over west-central and southwest Arabian Sea and central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal.

A statement from the Chief Minister Office (CMO) had said: "Statewide 28 people have lost their lives and other 27 have sustained injuries following the heavy rains causing a flood-like situation in the state. So far seven persons went missing."

Vehicles were seen wading through the waterlogged streets of Sion, Chembur, Gandhi Market at snail's pace due to heavy traffic jam.
