The girl's father, a migrant labourer from Bihar, had filed a police complaint accusing Surpreet Singh of taking his daughter from their home on the pretext of giving her biscuits on Wednesday afternoon, after which she did not return.

The Chief Minister further said that other states, to whom workers had gone to provide services and earn their living, should have ideally helped them during the difficult phase of lockown.

During Video Conferencing, Patnaik thanked both the Chief Ministers for taking care of the stranded people from Odisha in their respective states.
