The scribe approached Priyanka to know her stand on the abolition of Article 370 but in return he was dragged and roughed up by supporters including her secretary Sandeep Singh.

On July 17, ten people including women were killed, while over 20 sustained injuries when a village headman and his associates allegedly opened fire at a group of people over a land dispute at Ubbha village in Ghorawal area in Sonbhadra district.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Adityanath met the family members of the firing victims and handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 each to those injured in the incident.

Ten persons from the Gond community were killed when the village headman and his associates allegedly opened fire at them over a land dispute on July 17. Over 20 people sustained injuries in the incident.

Twenty-nine people have been arrested and four officials have been suspended in connection with the incident which caused nine deaths, the Chief Minister had said on July 19.

Earlier in the day, Priyanka met senior Uttar Pradesh administration officials and said she will not leave until and unless she is permitted to meet Sonbhadra victims families.

Vadra, Congress general secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh was detained on Friday while on her way to meet kin of those killed in the July 17 Sonbhadra firing incident. She was taken to Mirzapur by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

The incident took place on Wednesday in Ubbha village of Ghorawal where the village head went to take possession of his land purchased two years ago. However, he met with opposition from the villagers which triggered the firing allegedly by his aides leading to the deaths.

"Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased. He directed the district magistrate of Sonbhadra to provide immediate medical attention to the injured," a statement from the Chief Minister's Office had stated.
