India resumed play from 224/3 on Day Two of the third Test match against the Proteas. Riding on the confidence from the previous day, both Rohit and Ajinkya Rahane played their natural game and didn't allow the Proteas' bowlers to settle down.
India resumed their innings from 273/3 on day two. Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane continued their partnership and built a massive stand of 178 runs for the fourth wicket.
While Jadeja took 4 wickets in 2nd innings, Shami managed to scalp 5 wickets in the second innings. Ravichandran Ashwin, who bagged 7 wickets in the first innings, was able to get 1 wicket in the second innings.
Bumrah was ruled out of the Test series against South Africa on September 24 due to a minor stress fracture in his lower back. He was then replaced by Umesh Yadav in the Indian squad.
On Tuesday, the 25-year-old was replaced by Umesh Yadav in the Test squad. The Indian side will play three Test matches in the Gandhi-Mandela Trophy which is a part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC).
