New Delhi: The “Esports World Cup” event series was announced by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman at the New Global Sports Conference in Riyadh on 23rd October 2023.
In the summer of 2024, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia would play home to the Esports World Cup, an annual championship. In addition to a lineup of competitions across multiple games and genres, the Esports World Cup offers a “Club Competition” that allows esports organizations to compete across numerous games.
The ultimate Esports World Cup 2024 will be held in Riyadh from July 4 to August 24. There will be competitions for 20 different titles at this major festival, with a $60 million total prize fund.
The remaining teams competing in the tournament will be chosen through regional qualifications; some teams have already received invitations from the organizers.
The Esports World Cup 2024 organized by Esports World Cup Foundation and supervised by ESL features competitions amongst games such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, StarCraft II, EA SPORTS FC, Street Fighter Six, Tekken 8, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Honor of Kings, Free Fire, PUBG, PUBG Mobile, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch 2, Fortnite, Rocket League, League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, RENNSPORT, and Apex Legends.
About the Prize Pool
A total prize pool of US$20 million will be divided among the top 16 clubs in the Club Championship, a cross-game competition that is part of the Esports World Cup, based on their overall performance. A club has to place in the top 8 in two events to qualify, and they have to win the championship title in at least one of the 20 tournaments. Points can only be earned by individuals who officially join their club before June 14, 2024. The top eight finishes earn points, with first place scoring 1000 points. US$7 million is awarded to the victorious club.
