5G trials behind spurt in Covid infections & deaths? Audio clip goes viral, UP cops hunt for rumour-mongers
In an alleged telephonic conversation, a man could be heard claiming that 5G testing has caused multiple deaths in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra.
New Delhi: With exponential rise in Covid-19 cases and subsequent deaths, an audio message recently went viral on social media, claiming that the radiation being released by 5G testing has led to the outbreak of the second wave of coronavirus in India.
In an alleged telephonic conversation, a man could be heard claiming that 5G testing has caused multiple deaths in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra. He further alleged that due to the elections in West Bengal, the government did not start testing there but instead chose to initiate from Mumbai, Maharashtra.

“In an audio message, it is being claimed that 5g network is being tested in the states, due to which people are dying. This claim is fake. Please do not spread confusion by sharing such fake messages”, PIB said in a tweet.

“It is important to note that viruses cannot travel over radio waves or mobile networks,” this has been repeated by WHO many times in recent past as such rumours spread in other parts of the world too.
UP cops go against rumour-mongers
Acting against such fake and mischievous rumours, the Uttar Pradesh Police has directed all commissioners, DIGs and superintendents of police to initiate action against those spreading rumours that COVID-19 infection spreads through 5G trials.
In a letter to all the commissioners of police, DIGs and superintendents of police, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar ssaid that intelligence mechanism is activated on this front, and immediate action be initiated on even the smallest piece of information.
“The rumours must be immediately refuted, and necessary action be initiated,” he said.
Apart from the audio clip, some posts were also uploaded on social media which claimed that 5G towers were closed and uprooted in villages in Fatehpur, Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur and Sultanpur.
