‘Consequences’: Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal warns as Elon Musk posts edit button poll

Musk has been a prolific Twitter user for the last some years, though he has been constantly critical of Twitter’s policies regarding free speech

New Delhi: Hours after revealing a 9.2 percent stake in micro-blogging site Twitter, Tesla Inc Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk posted started a poll on the site asking users if they want an edit button.

“Do you want an edit button?” Musk asked in the caption of his poll, just hours after announcing his big percentage of stake in the company, making him Twitter’s biggest shareholder.

The poll conducted by Musk on the popular microblogging site received numerous responses and reactions, however Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal’s reply to his has been the most prominent one.

Responding to Musk’s poll, Agrawal tweeted, “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully”.

Previously, Musk had revealed his stake in the social networking site after expressing his concerns about freedom of expression on the platform and asking the users if a new networking service offering more relaxation in terms of expression is required.

“Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle?, ” he tweeted.

“Given that Twitter serves as the de facto public town square, failing to adhere to free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy. What should be done? Is a new platform needed?”.

Meanwhile, Musk has been a prolific Twitter user for the last some years, with over 80 million followers. Though he has been constantly critical of Twitter’s policies regarding free speech.
