‘Mystery hut’ found on far side of the moon says Chinese scientists

According to a report published in Space.com, a mystery object has been found on the far side of the moon by a Chinese rover.

New Delhi: A mysterious object has been found on the far side of the moon by a Chinese rover, said a report published in Space.com. The Yutu 2 rover that is currently working in the Von Kármán crater has spotted the object 80 meters away from its current position.

The Chinese have named the cube-shaped object “mystery hut.” Space.com stated that the discovery was made two years after the rover reached the moon’s surface.

“Suddenly, an obtrusive cube on the northern skyline caught their attention. This object pierced through the winding of the skyline, like a “mysterious hut” that appeared out of thin air. There was a large “baby” impact crater beside it. Was it a home built by aliens after the crash landing? Or is it the pioneer spacecraft of the predecessors to explore the moon?” Space.com quoted from the Yutu 2 diary being published regularly by Our Space, a Chinese language outreach channel. It is affiliated with the China National Space Administration (CNSA). Besides, it has also shared photos of the mysterious object.

Meanwhile, Yutu 2 rover was carried by China’s Chang’e-4 probe to the far side of the moon and was launched on December 8, 2018. The rover made a soft landing for the first time on the Von Karman Crater in the South Pole-Aitken Basin on the far side of the moon on January 3, 2019.

The Yutu 2 rover completed its three-month design lifespan and is reportedly the longest working lunar rover on the moon to date.

The rover is designed with six wheels so that it continues to operate even if one wheel fails. It can climb up a 20-degree hill or in case of an obstacle up to 8 inches tall. Besides, its maximum speed is 200 metres per hour.

The rover has been named after a white pet rabbit of Chang’e Yutu, the moon goddess, as per Chinese folklore.

It is said that Chang’e after swallowing the magic pill flew towards the moon along with her pet, where she became the Goddess and live with the white rabbit ever after.
