According to OpenAI, there has been a delay in the release of the ‘Voice Mode’ due to a technical issue in the backend.

New Delhi: In a recent statement by Chat GPT makers- OpenAI, there is a high possibility that the release of its “Voice Mode” will be delayed by a month. The feature was originally supposed to be integrated within OpenAI later this month. However, due to the unavoidable delay, the launch of the new feature is subsequently pushed to July.

According to OpenAI, there has been a delay in the release of the ‘Voice Mode’ due to a technical issue in the backend. Furthermore, OpenAI reiterated the fact that the delay in the release of the feature is necessary given the fact that the company wants to double-check everything before the update is launched.


OpenAI has been recently in the news after its lucrative partnership with Cupertino-based tech giant Apple. OpenAI’s partnership with Apple will unlock a plethora of AI functions which Apple has agreed to integrate in its new iOS update to create the “Apple Intelligence”.

What is the “Voice Mode” feature of Chat GPT?

The Chat GPT Advanced ‘Voice Mode’ also known as Real-Time Voice Mode is an upcoming update and feature in Chat GPT. One major update is the transition from the Whisper system to the Omni model. Under the Omni model, a more sophisticated algorithm will be used to transcribe the spoken language directly into human-like responses.


This forthcoming feature will also help in rectifying the lingering problems that have plagued the AI voice assistant assistant of Chat GPT. OpenAI has anticipated that it will solve two major problems that consumers have faced all these years- delayed responses and failure to handle interruptions.

OpenAI is also trying to broaden the capabilities of Chat GPT to run seamlessly for consumers. Recently, the company incorporated video and screen-sharing capabilities within the system. Furthermore, to make the system more robust, OpenAI has launched its GPT-4.o.
