Space spectacle on March 28: Skygazers can watch 5 planets in 1 line, a rare sight

According to Astronomical experts, people would be able to see these planets, before & after the rare cosmic event but would require a visual aid.

New Delhi: A rare spectacular astronomical phenomenon is set to unfold in the sky on March 28, 2023 as five planets will become aligned in an arc form along with the Moon. These are main planets of the Solar System namely – Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars & Uranus.

Such alignment of planets in one arc line, makes for an extremely rare cosmic event and will be nothing less than a ‘visual extravaganza’ for the skygazers & space enthusiasts.

The planetary alignments occur when the planets get closer to each other and align on one side of the Sun, at any given time.

In last couple of days, some rare conjunctions were seen in the Sky. On March 24, the brightest planet Venus ‘disappeared’ behind the Moon while on March 1, Venus & Jupiter aligned in a spectacular conjunction.

Which planets will be visible on March 28

According to Starwalk, all the five planets will visible after the sunset. Jupiter & Mercury would be seen near to the horizon while Venus & Uranus will appear higher and Mars will look closer to the Moon.

According to Fox News, Venus would shine the brightest among the all five while Jupiter will shine brighter than Mercury.

As Venus is the brightest planet of all, one could see it with a naked eye while Uranus would be the most difficult to see as it is the farthest planet.

Though, it will be seen closer to Venus but wouldn’t be visible with naked eye.

When & How to see the planets

According to Astronomical experts, people would be able to see these planets, before & after the rare cosmic event but would require a visual aid.

One could see Venus with naked eye but for spotting Mercury, Jupiter, Mars & Uranus in the sky, one would need a pair of binoculars.

Last time, such rare planetary movement occurred was in June 2022, when Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter & Saturn aligned in a rare order.
