New Delhi: Twitter CEO Elon Musk han announced a new and final date for removing the legacy Blue Tick from the users under the company’s previous regime.

Taking to Twitter, Elon Musk said that the Final date for removing legacy Blue checks is 4/20.

So what does this mean? 

This means that who ever holds the blue Twitter tick next to their name under the legacy verified account, will now have to pay to keep the checkmark or else it will be removed.

Only Twitter users who are subscribe to Twitter Blue will be able to keep the blue checkmarks.

The charges for Twitter Blue is different for different regions/country and based on how the inividual is signing up.

Earlier, Twitter had announced that it will start removing the Blue checkmarks starting from April 1.

On April 2, Twitter changed its the language in the description of verified users to read, “This account is verified because it’s subscribed to Twitter Blue or is a legacy verified account”.

In 2009, Twitter had annouced the blue tick for the micro blogging site to help users identify politicians, celebrities, brands, companies, news organizations and other genuine accounts “of public interest”

Earlier, Twitter did not charge for the blue checkmarks,

However, Elon Musk is now charging for the checkmarks to generate much-needed revenue for Twitter.
