Twitter suspends Indian microblogging site Koo’s query handle, co-founder Mayank Bidawatka raises questions

New Delhi: Elon Musk’s Twitter has suspended an account of its rival microblogging site Koo. The Twitter handle @kooeminence, which is an account for users’ queries, was suspended on Friday. Twitter has also suspended the accounts of various journalists from the New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN.

Mayank Bidawatka, the co-founder of the Indian microblogging site Koo, took to Twitter and shared the news. He informed his followers about the banning of @kooeminence and Mastodon accounts. He wrote that Koo is rather a user-friendly, transparent and inclusive platform, and it is time to take action against Twitter.

Bidawatka also raised several questions and criticised the recent actions of Twitter. He wrote about publicly available information being labelled as doing, accounts of several journalists being suspended and Twitter changing its stance every other day. The accounts of Ryan Mac of The New York Times, Drew Harwell of The Washington Post, Micah Lee of The Intercept,  Donie O’Sullivan of CNN, Matt Binder of Mashable, journalist Keith Olbermann, Aaron Rupar and Tony Webster have been suspended. In a recent policy update by Twitter, it has prohibited the sharing of live location information, which includes the live location shared on Twitter directly or third-party links.

Since Elon Musk’s takeover, Twitter has been bringing several changes and has faced a backlash for the same. The company has also started charging USD 8 from Android users and USD 11 from iOS users for the ‘verification’.
