What is Bard, Google’s conversation AI service and how is it different from ChatGPT?

As per Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Bard combines knowledge with the ‘power, intelligence and creativity’ of the tech giant’s language services.

New Delhi: Google has introduced their own conversation AI service called Bard. The move came as a response to catching up with Open AI’s popular AI ChatGPT which is backed by Microsoft. The service has been made available to some ‘trusted testers’ before making it public. Google also intends to bring the service to their other products, especially the search engine for an AI to answer and assist its users.

What is Bard?

Bard is an experimental conversational AI service that operates with LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications). The AI draws information from the web to answer users’ queries in a conversational manner. As per Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Bard combines knowledge with the ‘power, intelligence and creativity’ of the tech giant’s language services.

How does Bard works and where can it contribute?

Bard uses a lightweight version of LaMDA, a language created by Google two years ago. As said by Pichai, apart from creativity Bard will be a source to channelise your curiosity as it will answer complex questions in a simple manner.

Google discovered that people are now not only looking for factual information in their search engine but also seeking a subjective response. Bard and other AI services in other products to answer human queries. These AI features are set to come on Google Search soon.

How is it different from ChatGPT?

While ChatGPT has been created with the help of human conversations fed to it through social networking platforms and has information till 2021, Bard takes the information from the web.

Google has plans to bring Bard and AIs to search engines, likewise, Microsoft has invested in Open AI to bring ChatGPT to Bing.
