WhatsApp Latest Update: Here’s why you are no longer able to take screenshot of WhatsApp user’s profile picture

The latest feature, aimed at enhancing the privacy of the users, will restrict one from taking screenshots of anyone’s profile picture.

New Delhi: Meta-owned popular instant messenger has started rolling out a unique new feature for its Android version. The latest feature, aimed at enhancing the privacy of the users, will restrict one from taking screenshots of anyone’s profile picture.

The screenshot-blocking feature was earlier tested for the app’s beta version in February 2024 and now, several users, who have updated to the latest version of  Whatsapp can see it in action in their Android handsets. However, Meta has yet to make an official announcement detailing all the characteristics of this latest update.

All about WhatsApp’s Screenshot Blocking Feature

The users of the devices, that have been updated to the latest version of WhatsApp, would already know that the screenshot-blocking feature disables anyone from capturing screengrabs of other  WhatsApp users’ profile images.  This will not only add to the privacy of WhatsApp users but also reduce the chances of the misuse of anyone’s profile picture.

However, as META  has currently rolled out the screenshot block only for Android mobiles, IOS users will still be able to take screenshots of WhatsApp users’ profile images until the tech giant embeds this feature in WhatsApp’s upcoming IOS updates in the coming days.

WhatsApp’s Latest Pin Messages Feature

Meanwhile, reports also have it that META has started to release another striking feature for Whatsapp’s beta version 2,24,6,15. According to WABetaInfo once rolled out, this feature will make it possible for Whatsapp users to pin up to 3 important messages on Top of their chats. This is something that is already present in Telegram, another popular instant messenger often seen as a safer alternative to WhatsApp.
