Gujarat govt stands with migrants, more than 10 lakh sent back to their native place

The data shows that highest number of Shramik trains originated from Gujarat, followed by Maharashtra (429) and Punjab (265).

New Delhi: Out of 2,317 Shramik special trains that have run on tracks till May 21 midgnight, 699 trains have originated from Gujarat, transporting more than 10 lakh and 15 thousand migrant workers to their native place.
Gujarat govt also released official data, drawing a comparison with other states on return of migrant labour.

The data shows that highest number of Shramik trains originated from Gujarat, followed by Maharashtra (429) and Punjab (265).

This shows Vijay Rupani government’s exemplary governance and commitment towards all sections of society including the migrants.

The workers were ferried to many states in the Hindi heartland.

And, this is not limited to one day. Gujarat govt has been transporting migrants to their home states at much greater frequency and speed than other states. Yesterday, 633 trains originated from Gujarat while the second nearest state, Maharashtra had just 371 trains originating from its stations.

Encouragement to Online Shopping

Gujarat government is also promoting cashless transactions and online shopping, to avoid gathering at grocery, kirana and other local stores. As per data, people in the state made cashless transactions worth Rs 8.5 crore for purchasing goods.

At the departmental stores too, social distancing was being followed.
