New Delhi: The bloody violence on Delhi streets left more than 50 people dead. What triggered the riots is still not established, however, BJP leader Kapil Mishra has been in the eye of storm ever since he slammed the anti-CAA protesters in Jaffarabad area and warned to hit the streets if they were not evacuated by Delhi police.

Kapil Mishra has faced immense criticism, from certain sections of media, for his alleged provocative speech while many directly pinned the blame on him for instigating rioters in the city.

In an NDTV program aired on March 6, senior journalist and anchor Sreenivasan Jain interviewed a person named Sanjay Gupta and claimed him to Kapil Mishra’s landlord. Sanjay Gupta blamed Mishra for the riots and violence in Delhi. He said that the violence was result of speeches made by him.

Kapil Mishra, who came on the road to protest against the closure of the road in Jaffarabad and Chand Bagh said that ‘Delhi police should evacuate the roads in three days and we will wait till the US President Donald Trump is in India, but if the roads are not cleared in three days, then we will hit the streets again.

Kapil Mishra countered the NDTV interview and claimed that it’s a fake news. He said that Sanjay was not his landlord, the news channel caught a random person on the road and portrayed him as his landlord.

Following this, the NDTV issued a clarification. It said that Sanjay Gupta who acted as Mishra’s landlord has now been identified as broker/wwitness in Mishra’s property dealings.
