New Delhi: Sunil Jakhar, the former Punjab Congress chairman who announced his retirement from the party on Facebook Live on Saturday, reserved a few words of praise for senior leader Rahul Gandhi, whom he described as “a nice person.” Jakhar, who was fired from his posts last month for ‘anti-party activities,’ urged Gandhi to reclaim power and advised him to stay away from sycophants. As he finished his tirade, Jakhar exclaimed, “Good luck and goodbye, Congress…” The Congress is in the midst of its Chintan Shivir conference in Rajasthan, a three-day gathering of senior leaders to examine the party’s terrible results in five state elections held in February and March and determine a course for recovery ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
