According to the United Kingdom’s parliamentary system, the leader of the Conservative Party becomes the PM. Next week, a small group of the party, known as the 1992 Committee, will determine the rules, helping in electing a new leader from among the 350 lawmakers.

Amid the speculation about the new PM of the UK, let’s check the list of leaders who could replace Johnson below here.

Rishi Sunak

Rishi Sunak is one of the first few top leaders who resigned from their office demanding the resignation of Boris Johnson. He served in the country as Chancellor of the Exchequer and Chief Secretary to the Treasury during 2019-2020. He rosed to fame among the public after a series of policies by his office helped citizens during the coronavirus pandemic.

Sajid Javid

Sajid Javid, who held the UK’s health secretary, is also a strong contender to replace Jonshon as the new UK PM. He earlier competed with Johnson for the Conservative leadership after Ex-PM Thersa May announced her resignation in 2019. He publicly criticised Johnson over his leadership in Parliament.

Ben Wallace

Ben Wallace is currently holding the office of the Secretary of State for Defence in the Johnson government. He is also a former soldier of the country and earned a lot of appreciation for his role in supporting Ukrainian military efforts to fight back against Russia’s invasion in 2022.

It is important to note that he has so far not revealed his next step whether he would participate in any leadership contest.
