Clamour against Putin’s girlfriend intensifies, petition calls for her expulsion from Switzerland

Reports suggest that she is staying in Switzerland secretly and also has three children with her. Kabaeva is also said to be keeping a watch on the Russia-Ukriane war while living in the mountain retreat.

New Delhi: While Russian forces continue to pummel Ukraine’s major cities, under the orders of President Vladimir Putin, latter’s rumoured girlfriend Alina Kabaeva finds herself at the centre of controversy.

Alina Kabaeva, a former gymnast and love interest of Putin, reportedly lives in picturesque locales of Switzerland. Putin’s antagonists across the nations including Russia, Belarus & Ukraine have launched an online petition programme change.org and are demanding Swiss government to ‘expel’ her from the luxury mountain vila.

Reports also suggest that she is staying there secretly and also has three children with her. Kabaeva is also said to be keeping a watch on the Russia-Ukriane war while living in the mountain retreat.

The strongly-worded petition has asked Switzerland to take swift action and send her home to Putin.

Lot of Western nations including US & UK have voice strong concerns over Russia’s military adventurism in Ukraine and imposed severe sanctions. But, this hasn’t deterred Russia, rather it has stepped up the offensive over past few days.

“Despite the current war, Switzerland continues to host an accomplice of Putin’s regime,” said the petition. It asked the Swiss authorities as to why it continues to harbour Kabaeva & her family in their country, when Russian leader is “destroying the lives of millions”.

According to reports, the petition has been signed by more than 56,000 people and has been gaining strong momentum.

Who is Alina Kabaeva

The 38-year old former gymnast has been a gold medallist wrestler and shared an ‘illicit’ affair with Putin. Also, she is considered be Russia’s ‘most flexible’ woman. Kabaeva has also been a member of Parliament for 6 years from Putin’s United Russia Party.

According to a Mirror Report, many Russians assume her to be the reason behind Putin’s break-up with first lady Lyudmila, with whom Russian president has 2 daughters.
