New Delhi: The Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI-M) is drawing flak & public ire on social media with many netizens calling out its ‘fake nationalism’ and mindless praise for totalitarian regime of North Korea.
The Puducherry unit of CPI(M) took to its Twitter handle and showered praise on the autocratic & dictatorial regime of North Korea. Fawning over the oppressive & tyrannical regime, it said that the Workers Party of Korea (WPK) is leading the construction of a powerful socialist nation to victory while facing many challenges.

The Workers’ Party of Korea was founded 77 years ago, on October 1945. It is the sole ruling party of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea i.e. North Korea. Its General Secretary Kim Jong-Un is among the most atrocious & cruel rulers whose regime is known more for his tyranny than governance. Many incidents of ‘execution over dissidence’ to the ruler have been reported by Western media.
The admiration of North Korea by the Left party didn’t go down well with the netizens as they took umbrage and took turns to berate the party.
Netizens were baffled at the CPI(M)’s flattering admiration for the North Korean regime and citing it as an example of ‘socialist powerhouse.’ A couple of them also suggested that the party shifts its base to Pyongyang instead of Puducherry.
Pinarayji should go there for treatment next time.

The earlier occasion, when the Puducherry unit of CPI(M) stoked controversy was when it launched a tirade and posted series of diatribes over the death of former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev. It called him a ‘traitor to socialism’ and the destroyer of USSR.
