New Delhi: Former US President Donald Trump has made a bizarre claim, suggesting that an unnamed “they” are using cocaine to “pump up” President Joe Biden for his speeches.
Trump’s unfounded assertion came after a small amount of cocaine was reportedly discovered during a routine security check at the White House by the Secret Service. According to CBS News, a senior law enforcement source revealed that the substance was found in a storage facility within a cupboard regularly used by White House staff and guests for mobile phone storage. It was reported that the substance tested positive for cocaine, as confirmed by two law enforcement officials and a recording of a radio dispatch.
Seizing on this incident, Trump insinuated that the drug was intended for Biden or his son Hunter, who has publicly discussed his past struggles with cocaine addiction. Trump went as far as alleging that Biden is “a president that’s on cocaine.”
He went on to argue that Biden’s speeches offer clues suggesting he is under the influence of drugs.
“You know, you watch Joe at the beginning of his speech, and he’s got a little life. Not much, but he’s got a little life. By the end of the speech, he’s a disaster. He can’t even find his way off the stage. So there’s something going on there.”
“It’s just my opinion,” Trump emphasized. “I think they pump him up, absolutely. And we can’t have a president that’s on cocaine when you’re dealing with nuclear weapons and everything else … It’s very dangerous.”
The Secret Service is currently investigating the incident, and no findings have been released thus far. It is important to note that there is no indication of any involvement or connection between the Bidens and the discovered cocaine. Reports indicate that both Joe and Hunter Biden were away on a trip to Camp David at the time the incident occurred.
