Eastern Ukraine is always dear to Russia it has coal, it has iron, it has fertile land. its historical connection with Russia was forced. by the time Putin always says that “Russians and Ukrainians are one people”.

Do you think that Vladimir Putin is obsessed with Ukraine?

In the 9th century, there is a state called Kievan Rus. The Slavic people use to live here. the capital of this city is Kyiv. Between 980-1015, the Kievan Rus was ruled by Grand Prince Volodimer. Russian, Ukrainians and Bela Russians draw their lineage from this Slavic state. For a very long time, Ukraine was under Russian rule. In 1900 the two was Soviet republics. Russia was the most powerful of the 15 soviet republics and Ukraine was the second most powerful of the soviet republics. It has defence industries, large agricultural lands and had much of the nuclear arsenal. During the cold war, Ukraine was the archrival of the united state. The soviet union was collapsed in 1991 after that Ukraine became independent. Nuclear inherited much of the soviet arsenal but gave it after Russia 1994. Around 176 intercontinental ballistic missiles, 1249 nuclear warheads, 44 strategic bombers, 700 nuclear-tipped cruise missiles, 2000 tactical nuclear weapons. In exchange, Moscow guaranteed Ukraine security and promise to respect its sovereignty. After that, they just signed The Budapest agreement (original signatories) with Belarus, the UK, Kazakhstan, u.s.

What is “SIGN THE E.U. DEAL”?

November 2013, Viktor Yanukovych was the president of Ukraine he has a reputation for heavy-handedness, corruption and above all for being openly pro Moscow. In 2013 he rejected the E.U. trade deal. This deal could have meant great integration with the European Union instead Yanukovych decided to take a $15 billion bailout from Russia to many Russians who felt that it has been sold to Moscow. At independence square here the protestors chanted that “SIGN THE E.U. DEAL”. Protestors said that Yanukovych must step down. in February 2014 Yanukovych’s government was toppled, the president was driven out of Ukraine after that he fled to Russia, not every Ukraine was happy with this where else many people wanted Yanukovych to stay. When he was driven out major minorities felt disenfranchised ion the other hand Russia was angry because they lost their poppet to salvage the situation Moscow annexed Crimea. In 1954 Nikita Khrushchev transferred Crimea from Russia to Ukraine, this happened because Khrushchev thought that “brotherly ties between Ukraine and Russian people. Both Russia and Ukraine were part of the soviet union.

when does Ukraine become independent?

Crimea joined it. Many in Russia were of the opinion that Crimea should not have been allowed to join Ukraine. In 2014 Crimea’s Russian military began seizing government buildings. Soon the entire peninsula was under military occupation. April 2014 when Russia separates begin seizing territory in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces did not launch an all-out offensive at first but on the 17th of July 2014, Malaysian airlines flight 298 was shot down by these rebels. after that Ukrainian forces decided to flush out the rebels. The separatists began losing ground so the Russian army stepped in they invaded eastern Ukraine and fought alongside the rebel. What followed was the series of talks between Russia, Ukraine and the west. they decide on the Minsk agreements 2014 Both sides agreed on a ceasefire and military withdrawal. Ukraine agreed to hold elections in the rebel-held areas.

Ukraine stands as the largest European country excluding Russia. It covers an area of more than 603,550 SQ.KM.  with a population of 44 million people and a GDP of $155.6 billion per capita income of $3,727. Today Ukraine also remains at war, Ukrainian military continues to fight rebels in the east. Rebel leaders are leading at least two regions which are Donetsk and Luhansk, together known as the Donbas region. Russia once again has sent US troops this time the stations are right at the border.

What does Putin want?

For NATO to stop expanding. Whereas NATO stands for North Atlantic treaty organisation, it’s a military alliance. Ukraine wants to join NATO too but Putin wants nato to exclude Ukraine in every soviet state. Vladimir Putin’s approval rating at record levels, almost nine out of 10 Russians approve of their president according to a survey that also highlights support for Ukraine strategy. it is true that Ukraine was ruled by Russia. In fact, Ukraine has barely remained independent pre-1991. Past imperialism cannit justify present-day expansionism. history tells us that Ukraine was forcefully Russified. In the 1940s the ethenic tartars were relocated, they too were replaced with Russians. There is a reason why eastern Ukraine today has so many native Russian speakers it was designed to be that way. Eastern Ukraine is always dear to Russia it has coal, it has iron, it has fertile land. its historical connection with Russia was forced. by the time Putin always says that “Russians and Ukrainians are one people”.
