New Delhi: After the ouster of Imran Khan, Shahbaz Sharif was sworn in as the 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan on Monday. Imran Khan’s lawmakers resigned en masse, signalling continued political instability in the coup-prone country. Notably, Shahbaz is the younger brother of three times Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The current prime minister, unlike his brother, enjoys a good relationship with the powerful army.
Shahbaz Sharif is a hard-core realist and over the years has enjoyed a good reputation as a politician as he ruled as the Chief Minister of Punjab Province. Besides, being a good administrator, Shahbaz has a colourful and happening personal life as well. The current PM is always well known among people for his delightful mood. His marital life is hitting the headlines since his appointment as the PM of Pakistan.
Shahbaz has married five times and at present has two wives – Nusrat and Tehmina Durani. On the other hand, he divorced the other three – Aaaliya Honey, Nilofar Khosa, and Kulsoom Hai. He has two sons and three daughters with Nusrat and one daughter with Alia.
Shahbaz marriage and his family
First marriage to Begum Nusrat Shahbaz: Shahbaz’s marriage with Nusrat took place after a family revolt. According to reports, Shahbaz did not get approval from his father when he married Nusrat in 1973 when he was 23. Nusrat was the first wife of Shahbaz and they have four children together namely Salman, Hamza, and twin sisters Javeria and Rabia.
Second marriage to Aaliya Honey: Soon after the death of his first wife, Shahbaz tied the knot for the second time with an emerging model named Aaliya Honey in 1993. He married Aaliya at the age of 43 and their relationship is quite famous and it has a story behind it. Lahore’s ‘Honey Bridge’ is named after Aaliya Honey. It was built when Shahbaz was serving as Punjab’s CM. As per reports, the cavalry bridge was constructed so that he could easily travel to the residence of his wife, while many say that it was built so that his second wife does not get back home late from the office. However, the two got divorced during his exile years in Saudi Arabia. Reportedly, Aalia Honey died few months after the divorce under mysterious circumstances.
Third marriage to Nilofar Khosa: In the very same year, that is, 1993, Shahbaz got married to Nolifar Khosa. Khosa is the sister of DG Federal Investigation Agency Tariq Khosa and Justice Asif Saeed Khosa. Reportedly, his third marriage did not last and ended in divorce.
Fourth marriage to Tehmeena Durrani: Following two consecutive failed marriages, Shahbaz Sharif waited for a few years and got secretly married to socialite and novelist Tehmeena Durrani in 2003. Durrani is a Pakistani author, activist, socialite, and artist, and the second acknowledged wife of Shehbaz Sharif. Reportedly, the two got married after eight long years of a love affair. Besides, nobody including the government officials and Sharif’s family had any clue about their wedding.
Fifth marriage to Kalsoom Hayi: At the age of 60, Shahbaz married for the fifth time a girl named Kalsoom Hayi. His fifth marriage was also a secret affair. This too did not last and ended up in divorce. Earlier, Haya denied all claims that suggested her marriage with Shahbaz Sharif.
