Hadi Matar has been a 24-year-old resident of New Jersey’s Fairview. It is reported that he attacked the author’s neck at least once and at least once in the abdomen.

The prima facie probe revealed that the accused was working alone and was not a part of any terror group. However, the detailed report on Hadi Matar will come in some time.

Notably, Rushdie has been facing death threats over his book ‘The Satanic Verses’. Over the content of the book, Iranian revolutionary leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini also issued a fatwa.
