New Delhi: Iranian authorities arrested the star of the Oscar-winning movie, Taraneh Alidoosti for supporting the anti-hijab protests.
The state media reports said, she has been arrested on charges of spreading falsehoods about nationwide protests that grip the country.
Reports also said that Alidoosti was arrested because she did not provide “any documents in line with her claims.″
The actor had also posted a photo of herself with the main slogan of demonstrators.
Taraneh, who starred in the Oscar-winning film The Salesman, had shared several Instagram protests in support of the protests over the death of young Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini in police custody.
According to reports, Alidoosti was detained a week after she expressed her solidarity with a man executed for alleged involvement in unrest in an Instagram post.
Media reports said, her Instagram account was also suspended as of Sunday.
