New Delhi: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, have announced their separation after 18 years of marriage.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, the couple revealed that they have engaged in “meaningful and difficult conversations” leading to this decision. Despite their decision to part ways, they emphasized their commitment to remaining a close-knit family, sharing deep love and respect.

Although they have signed a separation agreement, the Prime Minister’s office clarified that the couple will continue to appear in public engagements.
According to the BBC, the Trudeaus will be spending a family vacation following the announcement. Their statement stressed that they had taken all necessary legal and ethical steps regarding their separation, ensuring the well-being of their children during this process. The couple has requested privacy to shield their teenagers and young child from undue attention.
Over the years, Justin and Sophie Trudeau have been seen attending significant events together, including the coronation of King Charles III in May and welcoming US President Joe Biden to Canada in March. However, their appearances in the public eye have become less frequent in recent times.
