
New Delhi: Amid the intense heat wave pummeling nations across the globe, Britain is bracing for extreme conditions this year. UK’s weather department has forecasted temperatures to cross beyond 40 degrees, apparently for the first time.
While the temperatures are tipped to cross 40 degree on Monday & Tuesday, a crisis meet of ministers is also in the works.
Europe is also in the grip of heatwave as wildfires across Portal, Spain, France, Greece have resulted in soaring of temperatures.
The prophesy of ‘red heat’ warning got wide coverage on front pages of newspapers in Britain. A host of newspapers made full front page reporting on heatwave, considering it an emergency rather than just meltdown. Gravity of the situation can be assessed from the fact that the government has announced national emergency for 2 days.
Last time, the highest temperature that Britain recorded was in 2019 when the mercury soared to about 38.7 degree Celsius.
