UK-Japan-Sri Lanka: From Boris Johnson’s Resignation, Killing of Shinzo Abe to Protestors entering Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s official residence

UK-Japan-Sri Lanka Events: Three big events that took place in theses countries.

New Delhi: This week has seen several events taking place in several countries, from UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson resigning from his position to Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe being shot during a campaign speech on Friday (July 8) to protesters storming President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s house amid the country’s worst economic crisis on Saturday (July 9).

Last remaining Rajapaksa 

On Saturday, Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was forced to flee to an unknown location after thousands of protestors stormed his official residence in the capital of Colombo.

Following which he had agreed to step down from his post on July 13, said Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena in a press conference.

Thousands of protestors rocked Colombo on Saturday (July 9). Pictures and Videos showed thousands of people breaking through the barricades surrounding Rajapaksa’s residence. Also, people were seen climbing  the fence and taking control of the area.

Check out some of the dramatic visuals from outside Rajapakse’s residence where demonstrators is seen storming into the compound and tearing down the security cordons placed by police.

Also several pictures which is circulated on social media shows people taking a dip in the swimming pool and romping through his kitchen and home.

Assassination of Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot by an unidentified man on Friday (July 9) while during a campaign speech in western Japan.

Abe sustained two gunshot wounds on the front portion of the neck which damaged his heart and a major artery, causing blood loss which killed him.

After being shot he was rushed to the hospital without any vital signs.

Abe, 67, was shot at around 11.30 a.m.in the western Japanese city of Nara.

Meanwhile, the police had the suspect for shooting Abe. The suspect has been identified as Tetsuya Yamagami, a 41-year-old resident of Nara City.

Japanese Police also said that it seems that the gun which was used by him appeared to be handmade. The gun was retrieved from the site where Abe was shot.

Boris Johnson steps down as UK PM.

Boris Johnson was forced to step down as British Prime Minister following mass resignations by Cabinet members which started on Wednesday and the numbers of resignations were increased to more than 50 on the second day.

Following this, Boris Johnson had also expressed his ‘regret’ at his inability to hold the position as the Prime Minister. He also said that he is ‘immensely proud’ of his achievements in office.

58-year-old, Boris Johnson had managed to remain in the power for almost three years, despite several allegations.

However, he will continue to remain in the office until October when the Conservative party meets for its annual conference so that his replacement is found.
