Ukraine President survives 3 assassination attempts, Russian plot to kill Zelensky foiled

New Delhi: Amid the military invasion of Ukraine, the Russian ‘killing squad’’ is on a mission to kill President Volodymyr Zelensky and if reports are to be believed, the assassination attempt has been carried out thrice in the last few days.

However, the murder plot has been thwarted by Ukrainian security forces. What’s more shocking is the revelation that they acted on a Russian Federal Intelligence tip-off about an attempt to kill Zelensky.

“I can say that we have received information from [Russia’s Federal Security Service], who do not want to take part in this bloody war,” Ukraine Secretary of National Security and Defence told local TV stations, reported a leading daily.

Ukraine’s President has put a brave face and refused to bow down despite the unprecedented onslaught by Russian forces. Latter has been bombarding key Ukrainian cities like Kharkiv & Kyiv but the latter has been unrelenting and mounted a strong defence. It’s because of Zelensky’s unwavering decision, Russians devised a secret plan to deploy a killing squad & eliminate him.

According to reports, the Kremlin-backed Wagner Group was behind two assassination attempts. However, as the information was leaked to Ukrainian intelligence, the attempt was foiled well in time.

According to the Times report, there are still more than 400 Wagner Group members active in Kyiv.

Zelensky was offered by the United States to be evacuated but the 44-year old President chose to keep firm feet & stay put.

“The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride,” he had said.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials claimed that the leader of the killing squad sent by Russia was killed last week while the assassination attempt was foiled on the outskirts of Kyiv.

The hit squad was reportedly part of bloodthirsty Chechen forces. Also, the information about the Chechen plot to kill Zelensky was released by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSS) who are not opposed to the Russian military attack.
