New Delhi: With Russia raining down missiles in Ukraine, attacking almost every corner of the country, civilians are taking shelter in rescue spots including subways. Meanwhile, a Ukrainian MP named Kira Rudnik revealed show she used her shoe cupboard underneath her home staircase as a bunker of sorts. The bunker can act like a place where one can take shelter when airstrikes are taking place.
Taking to Twitter, the Ukrainian MP shared a photo and wrote, “We get down there 3-4 times a day. While we wait for the #airstrikes to pass, we pray, sing the songs, or imagine, what life would look like when the #war is over.”

In another tweet she wrote, how earlier she would keep all her shoe boxes down in that space. Now, whenever, they hear sirens, they go down there in anticipation of airstrikes by Russia. She added a yoga mat and a pillow which sometimes work as a workstation as well.
Another #AirStrike in #Kyiv.
When we hear #sirens we go under the stairs. Before, I used to keep all of my shoe boxes here. But now I cleaned it up, put yoga mat and some pillows. pic.twitter.com/MM0SFdtD1Z— Kira Rudik (@kiraincongress) February 26, 2022
This is how my working day looks like now: sitting under the stairs during the #Airstrikes and sitting on them afterwards. Spreading the #truth about #Ukraine and our fight. pic.twitter.com/x2mXbk2BNJ

Recently, a photo of Rudnik holding a Kalashnikov has gone viral on social media. Taking to India Today, she said that holding a Kalashnikov gives her hope. Besides, she stated that this was the first time that she picked up arms. “I learn to use #Kalashnikov and prepare to bear arms. It sounds surreal as just a few days ago it would never come to my mind. Our #women will protect our soil the same way as our #men. Go #Ukraine!”

While in another post she wrote, “I planned to plant tulips and daffodils on my backyard today. Instead, I learn to fire arms and get ready for the next night of attacks on #Kyiv. We are not going anywhere. This is our #city, our #land, our soil. We will fight for it. So next week I can plant my flowers. Here.”
