New Delhi: In a shocking incident from Oregon, US, a Boeing 737-9 MAX passenger airplane was compelled to make an emergency landing after its mid-cabin exit door blew out mid-air unexpectedly just a few minutes into the flight.

In the chilling video recorded by the passenger, one can see how one of the passenger cabin’s doors has been completely detached from the airplane, giving a clear view of the lights coming from the houses of the city underneath.
As per a social media post by Flight Radar 24, the plane was at the maximum altitude of 16.325 feet when the said incident took place following which the crew was forced to retreat back to Portland International Airport.
Thankfully, the pilots of the flight in subject managed to make a quick safe landing back at the Portland airport from where the plane took off for California Oreanto with 171 passengers & 6 crew members just a few minutes ago.
Alaskan Airlines issues statement
Following the major incident, The National Transportation Safety Board later revealed that the incident occurred when a California-bound Boing 737 Max 9 lost its window along with a chunk of fuselage due to depressurization after departing from Portland at around 5:30 pm.
Shortly after, Alaska Airlines took to their official X handle and informed that they are currently investigating the matter and will share more details about it once the same becomes available.
About Boing 737 Max
Notably, the airplane involved in the incident is a 737 Max 9 model manufactured by Boeing. It was handed over to Alaska Airlines on 1 October 2023 with whom it took its first commercial takeoff on November 11 in the same year.
Before today’s mishap, the plane successfully accumulated around 145 commercial flights without running into any major problems.
In 2021, the FAA claimed that it has been closely monitoring all 737 Max planes with the help of satellite data to ensure the safety of the passengers.
