New Delhi: A lightning strike was seen on camera on a clock tower in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and the footage has since gone viral. In the footage, lightning is seen striking a clock tower on a soggy night. The sky is spectacularly illuminated following the lightning.

The video was recently published on Twitter by a user going by the handle Mulham H, who claims to be an astronomy scholar at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. “Sometime ago, a lightning bolt occurred… God made it a beneficial right for the nation and servants, Mulham H. tweeted.


The 5-second clip showed a threatening night sky over Mecca. At the centre of the city, a tall clock tower stood out. The apex of the clock tower was suddenly struck by a powerful lightning strike that burst from the sky. Soon, the entire sky was illuminated, and the thin strip of lightning appeared to extend its branches. Even though it was a fantastic sighting, the scene was also unsettling.
Social media users were astounded by the video after seeing it. While some Twitter users praised God’s might and noted that people are at His mercy, others uploaded videos of lightning strikes in other locations.
