Who is Alina Kabaeva, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s rumoured girlfriend?

While Putin never accepted being with Kabaeva, reports of the two being in a romantic relationship have refused to die down for over a decade

New Delhi: The United States has come up with fresh rounds of sanctions which include several names including Russian chief Vladimir Putin’s longtime rumoured lover Alina Kabaeva.

Former Olympic gymnast, also known as ‘Russia’s most flexible woman’, Kabaeva now have her visa blocked and is set to financial penalties along with various property limitations.

The action comes after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine six months from now. Kabaeva is also a former state Duma member and is the CEO of a national media organization which has constantly supported Putin’s war against its neighbour country.

Who is Alina Kabaeva?

Born in 1983, Kabaeva has her name registered amongst the most elite Russian list and happens to be the most decorated gymnasts across the globe.

Throughout her career as an athlete, she has nabbed 2 Olympic medals, 21 European Championship medals, and 14 World Championship medals. She was even chosen as the torch bearer during Winter Olympics 2014 held in Sochi.

The rumours of Putin and Kabaeva seeing each other first came to world’s notice when a local newspaper named Moskovsky Korrespondent published a news piece reporting that Putin was planning to tie know with Alina. Though the report drew instant denial from Russia.

Meanwhile on professional front, Kabaeva is the chief executive officer in a national media group and reportedly holds major stocks in major media outlets in Russia.

She has also been active in national politics till year 2014, when she help a set in the Russian parliament with United Russia party.
