Who is Robert Card? Maine mass shooting’s prime suspect that killed 22

Robert is also a father to three children and has been through divorce twice in his life

New Delhi: The suspect of the bar and bowling alley’s &  Schemengees’ mass shooting has been identified as Robert Card by the Lewiston Police Department.

Card, who is believed to be a firearm instructor himself, opened fire on the public in two separate businesses and fatally shot dead at least 22 people in Maine, Lewiston on Wednesday night.

Police and other Law enforcement agencies are now on a large-scale manhunt to catch the accused who is very likely in possession of deadly weapons and locals have been advised not to go outside their homes.

In the advisory issued for the folks living in and around Lewistown, Maine state police took to its Twitter (X) and wrote, “There is an active shooter in Lewiston. We ask people to shelter in place. Please stay inside your home with the doors locked. Law enforcement is currently investigating at multiple locations.”

Police release pictures of Suspect

The Police have shared three different pictures of the 40-year-old accused on Facebook In which he is seen carrying what appears to be a semi-automatic gun into the bowling alley where he later opened fire and left many dead and injured.

Post the mass shootings, Card was reportedly seen fleeing away from the site in a white Subaru SUV and the police have released pictures of the same.

Later, Lewiston Maine Police Department released a statement about the situation that read, “Law Enforcement is attempting to locate Robert Card 4/4/1983, as a person of interest regarding the mass shooting at Schemengees Bar and Sparetime Recreation this evening. CARD should be considered armed and dangerous. Please contact law enforcement if you are aware of his whereabouts.”

Who is Robert Card?

As per the Law enforcement agencies, Robert, who is accused of claiming 22 lives and injuring many in the Maine mass shooting, is an ex-US Army Reserve who used to be a certified arms instructor.

Prior to the incident, Robert was already making constant threats of carrying out mass shootings at Maine’s Soco National Guard Facility.

At the beginning of 2023, he also spent 14 days in a mental health facility where he was diagnosed with mental health-related issues like hallucinations, hearing voices, etc.

Robert is also a father to three children and has been through divorce twice in his life. His crime history shows that he is a repeated offender of crimes like domestic violence and stalking which caused one of his former wives to get a restraining order against him.

Interestingly, several reports hint that Robert was a huge supporter of former US President Barack Obama in the past and probably even voted for him in the 2008 and 2012 US general elections.
