Chaitra Navratri 2020, Day 5: Worshipping Devi Skandamata, the goddess who gave birth to Skanda

Today the divine Mother is in the form of creating progeny. In the spiritual skies, her son – Skanda or Mayura as he is also known is born. He is the General of the celestial armies.

During this time of Navratri Celebrations, Renooji (Renoo Nirula), has enabled us with knowledge and mantras to connect to, understand, and invoke the energies of Devi. It is a Journey that the Guru Invites You to take with Surrender and Devotion. (Below are extracts from Renooji’s lectures on Devi, Shakti, Durga and her many forms to empower you further)

DEVI SKANDAMATA

The fifth form of the Feminine Divine is Devi Skandamata. There is a great energy of maternal love that is flowing down on Planet Earth. Connect to it. These 9 nights and 9 days are a very special time. Use them to meditate on the forms of Devi. As you connect each day to these benevolent energies of compassion know that there are very potent energies of creation flowing down. So, be conscious of your thoughts and action. Your intentions and prayers are all going to be supercharged by the presence of the Devi.

Today the divine Mother is in the form of creating progeny. In the spiritual skies, her son – Skanda or Mayura as he is also known is born. He is the General of the celestial armies. Leading the armies of the Devas against all evil. Hence, it is very important to connect to this form of Devi today. Renooji shares with us the mantra that is ideal to chant, when approaching Devi SkandaMata, which is,

I I OM VIVIDHA-YUDH-DHARAAYE NAMAHA II
II ॐ विविधयुद्धधरायै नमः II
“VIVIDA-YUDH-ADHARAYE” – The mother who is without beginning and who is the bearer of various weapons.

Chant with love and devotion, 7, 9, 11, 21 or then 108 times.

Understanding Devi Skandamata

Understanding and approaching the Devi in these various forms can be intimidating. It is for this reason that Renooji provides us with an easy way to unpack this ancient form. When asked about Devi Skandamata, Renooji says,

“…as we approach the fifth form of the Devi, we are being given intimate acces to the creative energies of this Universe. The first four days take us from the egg, through to fertilisation of all the Universes in the Divine Mother’s Womb. Now, on the fifth day – we witness and benefit from the nuclear energy – the explosion that was the birth with Kushmanda! Devi Skandamata takes the negative forces away. And there is from the spiritual realm the antakaran (the cord of light) being established – for the new consciousness of the Universe of humanity.”

Meditating on Devi Skandamata

Look at this vision and breathe the form of Devi in. In your internal soul-self know that the explosion within is that of joy! Connect to the palms of your hands by folding them in a prayer-mudra – a namaste. And now raise this namaste above your head – with arms stretching to the sky. Thank the Mother Divine. Now bring this namaste to your forehead – your 3rd Eye. Thank this Universe and Planet. Now bring this namaste in front of your throat. And thank this time, this place and circumstance. Finally bringing this namaste to the front of your chest, at your heart centre. And thank yourself, your body, mind, spirit and soul connections. Affirming with a smile – “I thank the presence of all Devi energies, for I am born of her body and vision. Devi Om, Devi Om, Devi Om.”
