Don’ts of Ganesh Visarjan Puja

Do not carry out the visarjan rituals at an inappropriate time.

Do not send Bappa to his heavenly abode without giving him food that he would need during his return journey.

Do not give a farewell to Bappa without singing the aarti.

Dos and don’ts of Ganesh Visarjan rituals

1) If possible, devotees must carry out the immersion process at home in a bucket or a drum.

2) If the idol cannot be immersed at home, then, those staying close to natural water bodies such as ponds and lakes can go to the designated site for the immersion. And those staying closer to artificial ponds and water tanks can head to such authorised spots for the visarjan.

3) The concluding puja and aarti must be performed at home and not at the visarjan site.

4) Devotees must abide by the social distancing protocols, wear a mask and maintain hand hygiene.

5) Processions must not be carried out. People must not gather in large numbers.

6) Devotees must not immerse the idols on their own when they visit immersion spots. Instead, they must hand over the idol of Lord Ganesha to the staff.

What are the timings for Ganesh Visarjan 2020?

According to drikpanchang, the Prataha Muhurat will begin from 9.10 am and continue till 1.56 pm whereas the Madhyana Muhurat will begin at 3.32 pm and end at 5.07 pm on September 1. The Sandhya Muhurat on September 1 will begin at 8.07 pm and continue till 9.32 pm. The Ratri Muhurat, on the other hand, will begin at 10.56 pm on September 1 and continue till 3.10 am on September 2.

What are the dos and don’ts for Ganesh Visarjan 2020?

It is noteworthy to mention that the concluding puja and aarti of Ganesh Visarjan should be performed at the devotees’ home and not at the visarjan site as it is not auspicious. The devotees should also keep in mind that they must provide enough food for Lord Ganesh during visarjan for his return to Mount Kailash and they also need to sing the Ganesh aarti while giving a farewell to Lord Ganesh during Ganesh Visarjan.
