Mesha Sankranti 2023: Mesha Sankranti is considered as the pious beginning of Hindu New Year. On this day, the sun enters in Aries (Mesha) from Pisces (Meena) according to Hindu solar calendar. People from different parts of the country celebrate the beginning of New Year in various forms. It has also known by different names in various regions of the country like, in Orissa it is called Pana Sankranti, in Tamil Nadu it is celebrated as Puthandu,in West Bengal as Nav Bharsa and so on.

It is the day when lord Surya is worshipped and people visits places like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Varanasi to take the holy dip in river Ganga. It is believed that by taking holy bath in river Ganga, people gets relieve from their sins. N this day, devotees also offer bhog and Prasad to lord Shiva and Vishnu and perform several rituals.
