New Delhi: Recently on Twitter, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed that they are working on a new EV, which will sit below the Model 3 in their lineup. It was speculated that the vehicle will be called ‘Model 2’, but now it is confirmed that the upcoming EV will be called ‘Model I’, and it will be a made-in-India vehicle.

The price of Model I (I for India) is set at Rs. 19.9 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). Bookings for Model I have already begun, for a token amount of Rs. 59,999. Of course, Bitcoin is an acceptable form of payment, and the company is planning to accept other cryptocurrencies as well, like Dogecoin and Coinye West.

Model I’s exterior design is extremely good and is suspiciously reminiscent of Model Y. However, the interior part is the most intriguing due to its funky design. The car has a joystick-style steering wheel plus the buyers have the option to pair the car with a PS5 joystick as well, although driving it with a controller is not allowed in India yet.

Tesla’s new car will be available in five colour options – Star Platinum, Magician’s Red, Hermit Purple, Hierophant Green, and Silver Chariot. Combined with a new 52 kWh battery pack to give you that extra speed. The EV will be available in two drivetrain configurations – single-motor RWD with a range of 901 km and dual-motor AWD with a range of 976 kms. The 13.2-inch infotainment system gets integrated Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Further, Elon Musk’s SpaceX is going to collaborate with ISRO for a new mission beyond Mars. Musk is also planning to give Pluto its planetary status back.

Please read this with a large amount of salt, because this article was a prank! But you realised it already, didn’t you?

Our intention was just to lighten up the mood without hurting anyone’s sentiments. But just like you, we also hope that Tesla brings a new affordable EV to India soon, as its existing vehicles are too expensive for mainstream buyers in the price-sensitive market of India. Happy April Fool’s Day folks
