Combating Covid-19: Record 81,500 patients recover in past 24 hours

Covid-19: The gap between recovered cases and active cases is growing wide, with the recoveries almost reaching 4 times of new cases.

New Delhi: Record 81,500 Covid-19 patients have recovered from the deadly disease in past 24 hour. The speed of recovery has been consistently on the uptrend with latest figure suggesting at 77.77%.

Till date, over 36.24 lakh people in the country have recovered from the pandemic.

The gap between recovered cases and active cases is growing wide, with the recoveries almost reaching 4 times of new cases. The Health Ministry said, more than 3/4th of total cases have recovered whereas less than 1/4th remain active. Actual caseload of the nation taday stands at 20.56%.

The number of recovered patients in the country has surpassed active cases by almost 3.8 times.

According to Health Ministry, the high recovery rate has been powered by 9 States and Union Territories including Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Gujarat among others. reporting recovery Recovery rate in these is above 80%.

Another highlight is the low fatality rate, compared to global levels. Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is 1.66%, where 17 States and UTs have reported fatality rates even lower than 1%.

In past 24 hours, nearly 97,000 new cases have been reported. Total active cases stand at around 9,58,000 while 1,201 fatalities in last 24 hours has taken the total toll to 77,472.
