Covid-19: Recovery rate climbs further to 93.94%, over 14 crore tests conducted so far

Covid-19: Health Ministry has informed that nearly 78% of new Covid cases are concentrated in 10 states and Union territories of Delhi, Maharashtra , Kerala, West Bengal, Haryana and Rajasthan among others.

New Delhi: Achieving a significant milestone in fight against COVID-19, the nation today witnessed daily Corona cases dropping below 50,000 mark for 24 consecutive days.

In 24 hours, nearly 31,000 new confirmed cases were reported while nearly 42,000 people recovered successfully in the same time span. With a cumulative recovery of 88.90 lakh people so far, the recovery rate has reached at 93.94 per cent. The recovered cases now stand at about 20 times the number of active cases.

The active caseload continues to remain below 5%. The active cases stand at 4.35 lakh which comprises merely 4.60% of the total reported cases.

The Health Ministry has informed that nearly 78% of new Covid cases are concentrated in 10 states and Union territories of Delhi, Maharashtra , Kerala, West Bengal, Haryana and Rajasthan among others.

The Health Ministry said that this has also led to a commensurate dip in the fatality rate which stands at 1.45%. It informed that 482 case fatalities were reported in the past 24 hours.

Nearly 9.70 lakh COVID samples were tested in country in last 24 hours. With this, the cumulative testing figure has reached around 14.13 crore.

The Central Government and ICMR have scaled up the TESTING infrastructure in a calibrated manner. Starting from just 1 testing lab at National Institute of Virology, Pune, in January 2020, today, the number of labs are 2170, with 1176 government and 994 private labs in operation.

India’s testing capacity has touched 15 lakh per day ensuring easily accessible COVID-19 tests for all.
