Covid-19: Recovery rate climbs to 77.77%, 34 lakh people recovered so far

In past 24 hours, 89,706 fresh cases have been reported, taking the total number of positive cases to 43.70 lakh. Total active cases in the country stand at around 8.97 lakh.

New Delhi: With recovery from Coronavirus steadily increasing, the total number of people recovering from the pandemic has reached 34 lakh.In past 24 hours, India recorded one of the highest single day COVID-19 recoveries of about 74,894 patients.

“A total of 33,98,844 COVID-19 patients have recovered so far. The total number of recoveries on a weekly basis has increased from 1,53,118 during the third week of July to 4,84,068 in the first week of September,” a statement from the MoHFW said.

The overall recovery rate has now reached 77.77 per cent.

Health Ministry said, the actual caseload of the country has reduced and currently comprises only 20.53% of positive cases. The number of recovered patients has overtaken the active cases by nearly 3.8 times.

Covid recovery

According to health ministry, the sustained high recovery rate is driven by 9 states and union territories reporting recovery rate of over 80 per cent. They include Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Gujarat among others.

The high levels of recovery is from various States and UTs and almost 60 per cent of the total recovered cases have been contributed by 5 States namely Maharashtra , Andhra Pradesh , Karnataka , Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

“A total of 89,706 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. The five states of Maharashtra, Karnataka,
Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu contribute 61% of the total active cases,” the statement said.
Effective implementation of ‘Test, Track and Treat’ approach has led to higher recoveries and lower fatality.

Currently, India’s Case Fatality Rate is at 1.69 per cent. India has progressively maintained a low Case Fatality Rate compared to the global average which is above 3 per cent.

In past 24 hours, 89,706 cases were reported taking the total number of positive cases to 43.70 lakh. Total active cases in the country stand at around 8.97 lakh. Total death toll has crossed 73,000.
