GOOD NEWS: India’s Coronavirus numbers on a decline, recovery on an uptrend

Covid-19: A total of 70,589 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in the country. Days back, this number had swelled upto 90,000 cases daily.

New Delhi: The country has been witnessing a continuous increase in recovery of patients from Covid-19 pandemic. Total number of recovered cases have now reached 51 lakh, with recovery of nearly 85,000 people in last 24 hours.

And, with recovery rate reaching 83.01%, the gap between recovered and active cases is progressively growing wider. Recovered cases now exceed active cases by more than 5 times now. The actual caseload has been on the decline and has now reached 15.42% of total positive cases.

However, what’s remarkable is constant falling numbers of fresh Covid-19 cases. A total of 70,589 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in the country. Days back, this number had swelled upto 90,000 cases daily. But, for more than a week, the numbers have been falling from 90K to 80K and now 70K new cases.

10 states and Union Territories account for 73 per cent of the new confirmed cases. Maharashtra continues to lead this tally with more than 11,000 new cases followed by Karnataka with more than 6,000 cases.

Covid recovery

The significant fall in daily positives and the rise in testing brought the sample positivity rate down to 6.1 per cent. For the last several weeks, the positivity has fallen to the 6 per cent level about once a week.

In Uttar Pradesh, a decline of over 20.5% has been recorded in the number of active cases in past 10 days. Against over 65,000 active cases on Sept 18, fresh cases reported on Monday was little above 50,000.

Record 7 lakh Covid-19 tests conducted in a day, recovery rate rises to 69%

Monday’s drop can be explained by the reduced amount of testing on previous day as about 7 lakh samples were tested on Sunday. However, the numbers which soared to above 90,000 has fallen by over 10,000 cases on daily basis.
