GOOD NEWS: New active Covid-19 cases show a consistent decline for last 10 days…see graph

It means that the new active cases have been falling. So the daily additional burden on the health infrastructure has been easing.

Witnessing a continuous surge in coronavirus infections across the country, India reported over 3.60 lakh fresh COVID-19 cases and close to 3,300 related deaths in the last 24 hours, its biggest single-day hike since the onset of the pandemic.

A total of 3,60,960 new COVID-19 cases, 3,293 related deaths, and 2,61,162 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total active cases to 29,78,709, as per the health ministry update on Wednesday morning.

While the Growth of active cases is 4.4% but there’s been a consistent decline for 10 days. It means that the new active cases have been falling. So the daily additional burden on the health infrastructure has been easing.

Prof Shamika Ravi explained how the situation improving in the country

While daily confirmed cases continue to rise (362,757 yesterday), the daily recovered cases are also sharply rising.

According to the health ministry, 14,78,27,367 vaccine doses have been administered through 21,18,435 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am on Wednesday and more than 25 lakh vaccination doses were administered in the last 24 hours. On Day-102 of the vaccination drive (April 27, 2021), 25,56,182 vaccine doses were given. 15,69,000 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 22,989 sessions for 1st dose and 9,87,182 beneficiaries received 2nd dose of the vaccine.

Daily testing has been rising sharply overall. But the infection is rising faster, as is reflected in the rising Test Positivity Rate (6.4%). All states have raised daily testing – except Delhi and Telangana.

The second wave of infections is simultaneous with the vaccination drive across the country. The current growth rate of vaccinated people is 1.34%, while the growth in active infected cases is 4.39%.
